It's that time again! One question is reverberating around the Fortnite fandom at the moment, and it's a very familiar one: is Fortnite down?
Regular players of Epic Games' iconic battle-royale game will know that scheduled downtime and server maintenance is a fairly common occurrence, but is there any going on right now?
Of course, this normally happens when the developers are deploying an update, and good things come to those who wait in those sorts of situations.
And so, if you're trying to work out if the Fortnite servers are down at this very moment, read on!
Is Fortnite down?
At the time of writing, Fortnite is down.
The latest batch of Fortnite server downtime began at around 8:30am on the morning of 18th July 2022, from a UK time zone perspective, as Epic confirmed in the tweet below.

When will Fortnite be back online?
From a UK perspective, we would hope to see Fortnite coming back online by around midday BST on 18th July.
Fortnite server downtime has been known to last around three hours, so we wouldn't expect the game's return to be much later than that.

How to check Fortnite server status
Whenever you're unsure as to whether Fortnite is online, there are three main places you should check to see what the Fortnite server status is looking like.
The official Fortnite Status Twitter account will keep you posted with official updates from the developers.
Also, the Epic Games website will give you a quick way to look at the official status of all of Epic's services.
Plus, take a look at Down Detector and you'll see if any other players are currently experiencing difficulties.
