Dying Light 2 PC settings
Dying Light 2 is quite the beast of a game and maybe one of the first multi-platform AAA releases to truly feel next-gen. Your old graphics card is probably screaming at that news.
While a very intensive game in terms of performance and hardware demands, most players on even the minimum recommended specs can enjoy 1080p at 60fps with a few settings tweaks. I’ve played 100 hours of Dying Light with an I7 processor, GeForce GTX 1060, and 16 GB RAM that I’ve been using for four years and enjoyed a pretty smooth experience throughout by blending a mix of low and high visual settings with the game’s rather excellent in-built upscaling options.
If you want to get the most out of Dying Light 2 with your lower-end PC, try these settings on for size.
Dying Light 2 Video Settings
Upscaler Mode: FSR, quality (switch to balanced if necessary)
Gamma: 20
Film Grain Effect: Off
Sharpness: 50
Field of View: 0 (crank this up if you dare)
Antaliasing Quality: High
Motion Blur Quality: None
Particles Quality: Low
Contact Shadows Quality: Medium
Ambient Occlusion Quality: High
Global Illumination Quality: Low
Reflections Quality: Low
Fog Quality: Low
Bear in mind that these settings are just a baseline suggestion, not the absolute best settings for your setup. You may want to fiddle with some of the quality settings, but it’s unlikely that you will be able to put too much to high without stuff breaking.
Though not the prettiest way to play what is a very strangely beautiful game (despite all the death and that), you can still enjoy some really nice looking moments in Dying Light 2 with a lower-end rig. The following screenshots have been compressed by the site to make this page load faster, but you can tell it’s a looker still.
The upscaler is what does a lot of the hard work here, basically rendering the game at a lower resolution before upscaling it to save on resources. It’s really quite a marvel, so here’s hoping more games implement it in the future.
And maybe they do something about Denuvo too.
Dying Light 2 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X | S.
