Every Magic: The Gathering Secret Lair x Fortnite Card

Fortnite has officially met Magic: The Gathering in the newest Secret Lair Drop Series: Fortnite. This newest drop consists of 12 total cards in 2 mini-sets: Fortnite and Fortnite: Lands and Locations. Officially unveiled, this set joins other famous franchises as part of Magic: The Gathering's Universes Beyond product line.

While the Secret Lair drop is currently yet to be released until later in July, the cards have already been spoiled. Unlike some of the previous Universes Beyond sets, namely the Walking Dead and Stranger Things crossovers, this set is entirely made up of reskinned classic cards, which is sure to at least please fans as they likely will not join Magic's most expensive Secret Lair cards. These new redesigns envision the older classics in the wacky world of Fortnite, capturing many gameplay mechanics and elements in the art. What's better is that most of these cards are rare or mythic, ensuring some quality cards, just in a new package.

While their current push to expand into crossover brands has been a contentious one, Wizards of the Coast has been churning out successful drops with their latest push for Secret Lair releases. This is not the first video game crossover Magic has done, and it likely won't be the last. For instance, earlier this year there was Magic: The Gathering crossover with Street Fighter. Here are the latest reprints from Fortnite and Fortnite: Lands and Locations.

Basic MTG Lands Are Reskinned In Fortnite: Lands And Locations

The first mini-set reveal is Fortnite: Lands and Locations. Typical of their recent trends to reprint basic lands in new art styles befitting the crossover franchises, this Secret Lair mini-set is a set of basic lands from the world of Fortnite, one for each color of mana. The lands themselves appear to have a very cartoony look to them, befitting the Fortnite art style.

Fortnite Secret Lair Sees Reprints Of Classic Cards In A New Style

The official Fortnite crossover's line of reprints:

  • Shrinking Storm (Wrath of God)
  • Dance Battle (Dance of Many)
  • Supply Llama (Etherium Sculptor)
  • Crack the Vault (Grim Tutor)
  • Battle Royale (Triumph of the Hordes)
  • Battle Bus (Smuggler's Copter)
  • The Cube (Planar Bridge)

Each reprint is a stylized depiction of a Fortnite game mechanic or feature. Regarding their values, Magic: The Gathering reprints can still be expensive, but there are some solid reprints in this Secret Lair set which will hopefully make some reprinted staples easier to afford. Wrath of God, Grim Tutor, and Triumph of the Hordes are staple cards both in Commander and other formats and have good value for their mana cost and effect. Etherium Sculptor is also widely played in many formats. While Smuggler's Copter, Dance of Many, and Planar Bridge are more niche in their uses, the Fortnite art is well done and clearly made to have a humorous edge which can lighten up decks looking for some personalization.

While its value remains to be seen alongside the price tag of the drop itself, choosing to do reprints like MTG Double Masters 2 instead of creating new cards was a safe choice. What's more is that some of these cards have decent value for both Magic and Fortnite fans, uniting card value and stylistic artwork in a solid addition to Magic: The Gathering's Secret Lair lineup. Both Magic: The Gathering Secret Lair x Fortnite and Magic: The Gathering Secret Lair x Fortnite: Lands and Locations are slated to be open for purchase later in July.
