Fortnite Chapter 3: Season 1, the 19th Season in the game's history, will end next month. Epic Games' free-to-play Battle Royale remains one of the most popular titles out there, and a constant stream of updates and expansions have kept the classic gameplay fresh. Fortnite Chapter 3 sees the return of a few special items, including a grenade that now features in a new Weekly Challenge.
The Clinger was first introduced to Fortnite way back in 2018, and has been twice Vaulted and Unvaulted since then. An unusual-looking grenade, the Clinger works by sticking to the first thing it hits and then detonating three seconds later. Players must deal 100 damage with a Clinger to complete the new Fortnite Weekly Challenge, but finding the odd grenade is a matter of luck.
Where to Find Clingers in Fortnite Chapter 3
vending machine locations fortnite chapter 3Clingers can be Uncommon or Rare, and both kinds can be discovered in Chests, Rare Chests, Supply Drops, or Floor Loot. Players are more likely to find Clingers among Floor Loot than in any other area, and they're quite easy to spot from a distance. Because of this, there's a particular POI on Fortnite's map that is perfect for finding Clingers.
Players that want to complete the new Weekly Challenge quickly should start by dropping on Tilted Towers. This classic Fortnite location has one of the highest concentrations of Floor Loot on the map, due to its many tall buildings. Players may even be able to spot a Clinger on a roof when dropping on the POI.
How to Use Clingers in Fortnite Chapter 3
Clingers are one of the more unusual weapons in Fortnite, but they can be devastating in the right situation. The sticky grenades do 100 damage to players, and 200 to structures. Once a Clinger has struck a player, there's nothing they can do to avoid the huge damage when it explodes. This makes direct hits devastating, so it's best to use a Clinger in close-quarters combat. However, players throwing Clingers at close range should be careful that their target doesn't charge forward, as the explosion can just as easily kill the thrower.
Clingers can also be useful for quickly destroying structures, and will even stick to Fortnite's vehicles. If a structure is destroyed with a Clinger attached, the Clinger will fall and adhere to the next thing it lands on, or explode in midair if its 3-second fuse expires. The Weekly Challenge doesn't count damage to structures, but it will count damage to NPCs, making it easy for players to tick it off once they've found a Clinger.
Fortnite is free-to-play on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
