The upcoming Fortnite update, the second for Chapter 4 Season 1, is scheduled to be released on Tuesday, January 17.
While the new chapter has brought a lot of new content to the popular game, the truth is that Epic Games hasn't released many updates for it so far. This is mostly due to the company-wide winter break that took place from December 2022 to early January 2023.
Epic is now back and will release another Fortnite update, with v23.20 set to be launched on January 17. Considering that it's major, we expect the game developer to release a lot of new content. This article will reveal early patch notes and everything we can expect from it.
Fortnite v23.20 update will bring in a lot of new content
The latest chapter of Fortnite Battle Royale has brought many new items to the popular video game, such as the Shockwave Hammer and Ex-Caliber Rifle. However, Epic Games hasn't released many other weapons since the initial release.
Fortnite leakers have revealed two new items that will be released into the game at some point. One is a weapon called the Firefly Launcher, while the other is a utility that destroys builds, the Power Guitar.
While these two items aren't confirmed to be added with the next Fortnite update, it is very likely that at least one of them will be released.
In addition to the items, Epic Games will release several smaller map changes with the v23.20 Fortnite update. These tweaks will most likely be subtle, but may foreshadow a future live event.
The second part of the Oathbound questline will also be released with the update. Furthermore, players will be able to complete a special quest to unlock a new style for Massai as part of the Midseason Drop.
Augments are a big part of the current Fortnite Battle Royale season. At the moment, there are around 20 that players can choose from, but Epic Games keeps enabling them and disabling them at random times.

Epic Games will use the next Fortnite update to add a lot of new cosmetic items to the video game. Besides the new style for Massai, they will release a new skin called Rift Warden. It will be added to the Item Shop on Wednesday, January 18.
There have also been rumors of a Fortnite x Dead Space collaboration. The crossover is supposedly going to take place in January 2023 and may be released with the upcoming update.
Finally, Creative 2.0 will not come out with the v23.20 update. According to rumors, it will be released with the v23.30 update on January 31.
