When they re-released the Skull Trooper and new Skull Ranger outfits last week, they updated the Fortnite store halfway through the existing one to add the new skins. They’ve done the same again this week with the brand new Deadfire skin, released with the 6.20 patch.
The Deadfire Fortnite skin is awesome. He’s a cowboy with a big brown leather coat and a star adorned on his hat. He comes with a backbling that is a mini version of Kevin the Cube, chained up because he’s captured him and is no doubt on his way to collect the bounty. “This town ain’t big enough…” reads the description.

Perhaps the best part about Deadfire though is that he’s the first ever Reactive skin we’ve seen. We’ve got Reactive harvesting tools like the Propeller Axe that speeds up the more kills you get, or the Thunder Crash that glows brighter, but we’ve never had a Reactive skin. “Transforms by dealing damage, or by outliving other players” is the description, so you don’t even have to kill any opponents like you do with the Reactive harvesting tools.
When it reacts, he spurts green flames out of his hat and his face turns blue. His coat turns purple and overall he just becomes very ghoulish indeed. He’s not the only new skin with this latest patch - dataminers have delved into the game files and retrieved a bunch of new leaked skins and emotes that you can see here. There’s even a new starter pack!
As for the rest of this patch, there’s been a number of core gameplay changes. For the next week or so, you can redeploy your glider whenever you jump off anything three storeys or higher, so fall damage becomes non-existent.
