What is Ghost Recon Breakpoint?
To start out with the obscenely obvious, Ghost Recon Breakpoint is the next instalment in the Tom Clancy series after Wildlands. Its story is said to “tackle the rising threat of advanced technology,” and it does this in a campaign that you can undertake on your own or with three mates in co-op.
One of the most exciting aspects of Ghost Recon Breakpoint is its emphasis on survival and immersion. You can still be as chaotic and buffoonish as you wish because Ubisoft don’t want to eliminate the fun, but you will have to be wary of the new injury system in order to escape the scariest of situations.
Without being too flowery and convoluted with the verbiage used to describe the injury system, it’s essentially a form of punishment that affects how well players can perform in combat and traversal. Taking damage will basically injure different parts of your body, and you will have to patch yourself up with specific materials in order to return to peak condition.
In addition to the injury system, another feature based around the game’s emphasis on survival is makeshift camps. You can set these up to rest and compose yourself, and you’ll also be able to use the environment to camouflage yourself in mud ala Tomb Raider and Arnold Schwarzenegger in Predator.
There will also be plenty of side missions and PvP activities, coupled with different biomes and weather conditions.

The Ghost Recon Breakpoint Early Access commences tomorrow on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
In order to be able to participate in the Early Access fun, you will need to have pre-ordered either the Gold, Ultimate or Wolves Collector’s Edition.
The Gold Edition includes the base game and Year 1 pass, whereas the Ultimate Edition includes the same along with an Ultimate Pack bundle (Survivor Pack, Sacred Land Pack and Off-Road Pack).
Meanwhile, the Wolves Collector’s Edition additionally boasts a stunning statue, as well as a steelbook, premium box, dog tag, waterproof map, game soundtrack and confidential file with three lithographs.
Provided you’ve pre-ordered either of the above editions or are subscribed to UPLAY+, you’ll be able to play the game on October 1st instead of having to wait until October 4th.
