The Marauders closed beta is nearly here, and if you're dying for another extraction shooter in your life you're definitely going to want to check it out. Following in the footsteps of games like Escape From Tarkov, Marauders pits players against each other in space, with an objective to get in, find some loot, and then get out as safely as possible. So, if that sounds like your kind of thing, make sure to keep on reading for all of the information about the Marauders closed beta, including the release date, how to access, and any trailers for the game.
Marauders joins games like Escape From Tarkov and The Cycle Frontier in the PvPvE loot extraction genre, where you head into raids either solo, or in a squad of up to four players, in an attempt to claim as much loot as possible and escape with it. As opposed to the hyperrealistic or futuristic approach of its two contemporaries, Marauders aims for a more sci-fi, dieselpunk aesthetic that propels each player into the dangers of space. As a staple feature of the genre, any items or gear you bring into each raid is lost upon death, making each encounter and fight as tense as possible, as your items are always mere moments away from being wiped away.
Marauders Closed Beta: Release Date

The final Marauders closed beta will be released September 6, and run through until September 14. This is intended as a final period of testing before the game releases in early access in October, 2022, but it is also a great opportunity to get a sneak peek at the game if you've missed any of the previous testing periods, or to try the game again if you've been itching to play it.
If you happen to be at TwitchCon Amsterdam on July 17, you can also get an earlier sneak peek at the game at the Team17 booth and the 'Battle for the Void' LAN event that's happening there.
How To Access The Marauders Closed Beta

If you want to access the Marauders closed beta when it begins on July 20, you'll need to preorder the game through the game's website. Although you will be playing the game through Steam, it is currently not available to pre-purchase through the Valve operated client, so you have to do it directly on the official game website.
Pre-ordering will not only get you access to the closed beta though, as you will get a 10% discount for the game, alongside a Space Pirate pack which will be redeemable when the game launches in early access in October, 2022.
The upcoming Marauders closed beta and presumably any further pre-release access is currently only available on Steam, but the game will be releasing on PC Game Pass when it reaches early access.
Marauders Closed Beta: New Content

The release of the Marauders closed beta also brings with it some new content, including never seen before maps and guns. Perhaps the biggest content change comes in the form of the two new raid locations, 'Terraformer' and 'Merchant Ship'. Terraformer takes form as an abandoned agricultural hub situated on an asteroid shard, whereas the Merchant Ship is a new warship which welcomes both long-range and close quarters battles.

Alongside this, there are also three new weapons to bring to the action, taking the form of the Klobb Machine Pistol, the Heavy Thompson, and the Scrap Bomb. These weapons will hopefully give you even more ways to approach combat, and potentially give you the edge over your fellow space pirates in battle.
Finally, a handful of quality of life changes are also making their way into the game, such as a quick loot option, foldable bags, and additional cosmetics and audio effects. This should all make the Marauders experience more pleasant for players - at least, as pleasant as hardcore space combat can be.
Marauders Closed Beta: Trailers
With the announcement of the Marauders closed beta comes a trailer of course, and it shows off some of what's in store for players in the upcoming test period. We see a lot of combat, presumably PvP, alongside some squad play and a further look at the inventory system.
Furthermore, we get a glimpse of some of the gorgeous space vistas that you can fly around in before entering a ship. We certainly wouldn't blame you if you wanted to stay out there for the whole game, but I doubt many other players will let you do that for too long.
