A new Fortnite seasonal cosmetic called the Merry Mint Pickaxe has players frantically searching for what it is and how to get it. The enigmatic item was first revealed by dataminers last week. It isn’t available in the game so any hope you may have had of obtaining it through regular play right now should be abandoned.Detailed in a blog post by Epic Games, the Merry Mint Pickaxe can only be obtained by purchasing officially licensed Fortnite merchandise at select retailers in the US, France, Germany, and United Kingdom.

As of right now, GameStop is the only retailer that players have been able to get a Merry Mint Pickaxe code but it’s possible we’ll see it in retailers like Walmart, Best Buy, and more.

How to get the Merry Mint Pickaxe

As of right now, we’ve only seen GameStop publicly announce that it will be handing out codes for the Merry Mint Pickaxe cosmetic with the purchase of official Fortnite gear. The video game retailer confirmed this in a tweet that the promotion will be available starting on 11/6.

Many offers have been seen across social media, particularly on Twitter and YouTube. We do not recommend participating in these giveaways because there is a possibility these are scams. Only take free items from a trusted source. It's possible you'll see your favorite YouTube creator or Twitch Streamer handing out codes and in this case, participating will likely be safe!

It’s possible Merry Mint Pickaxe codes are at additional retailers outside of GameStop, like Walmart and Best Buy. We've reached out to Epic Games for additional information about what other retailers are honoring this promotion. We'll update this article with more as we find out.
